Shore Excursions

Many people like to take excursions when they stop in the ports.  Cruise ships always have many to choose from.  One advantage is that you meet the tour at the ship and typically return to the ship, so you don't have to worry about how to get to the tour, will I be back on board on time etc. 


Here's an overview of what Carnival says about their excursions:

Carnival has already researched the tour company and knows they are reliable, reputable, and required to carry insurance.  They choose tour companies with the best reputations in each port.  When you purchased thru the ship, there are no "hidden" fees that can be quite a surprise.  Tours offered vary from total relaxation to something totally exhilarating (like zip-lining).    And a big plus is that your credit card information is handled by the cruise line not a company you are not familiar with.  Carnival too will help with any changes needed if there is a change for that port/tour.
*The shore excursions sold by Carnival are owned and operated by independent contractors over whom Carnival exercises no control.

Many cruisers prefer to book their own excursions.  You need to decide which is best for you and your family.   We have always booked thru the ship, and found their pricing to be within a few dollars of what is being charged by the tour company if we booked on our own.  This is NOT always the case, so research is a must.
